Capitol to honor MOA with Oprra residents

CEBU, Philippines - Governor Hilario Davide III has assured that his administration will honor what is being stipulated in the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Capitol and the homeowners at the province-owned lots in sitio Oprra Village, barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.

The MOA was signed during the term of former governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

“Depende sa MOA. If there is a commitment sa province, then magpabilin. We will honor what the MOA says (It depends on the MOA. If there is a commitment from the province, then they will stay. We will honor what the MOA says),” Davide told reporters.

He said they will revisit the MOA and sit down with Oprra homeowners’ representatives as his administration has planned to resolve all issues over province-owned lots.

Davide said he has already spoken with Provincial Board member Grecilda Sanchez and instructed her to help in his plans.

During Garcia’s time, Capitol has agreed to sell its 40,560-square-meter properties in sitio Oprra Village to the Actual Occupants and Residents of Kalunasan (AOROK).

The province then signed a MOA with AOROK, which was then represented by its president Jack Rallos. Under the MOA, the entire property is valued at P132 million or P3,272.33/square meter. The agreement was not implemented, however, after several residents refused to pay the amount, saying it was expensive.  (FREEMAN)
