CEBU, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-7 welcomed its new director yesterday, following the departure of Atty. Antonio Pagatpat for his new post as one of the national office’s deputy directors.

Atty. Max B. Salvador was NBI-V (Bicol) acting regional director prior to his reassignment in Cebu.

In an interview, he said he would prioritize the big problems, most especially cyber-pornography and illegal drugs.

Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III, on the other hand, said he was hoping Salvador would give his best in solving high profile crimes in the region, especially in Cebu.

“Wa pa mi magkita. Pero I expect nga kining atong bag-ong (We have not met yet. But I expect that the new) director will be responsible enough,” Davide said.

Salvador would also have to take over the investigation into the ambush-slay of lawyer Noel Archival and two companions, which remains unsolved almost a month after the incident.

Davide expressed hope that with the NBI-7 also looking into the case, Salvador would be able to help fast-track the investigation on Archival’s death.

“We hope madali ning kaso ni Archival and of course kadtong mga high profile crimes nga being investigated by the NBI karon. People are so eager to hear unsa nay balita aning mga (for update on these) high profile crimes,” the governor said. — /RHM (FREEMAN)
