CEBU, Philippines - Two men were arrested in Cebu City Monday over stabbing charges.
One of the two is a 31-year-old vendor who stabbed his wife several times over suspicions of adultery. The incident happened last Monday afternoon in Barangay Tisa.
Investigation revealed that the man, Glenn Gera, hit his wife on her left side, right thigh, and left fingers using a kitchen wife.
The wife, Geralden Gera, 31, a call center agent, claimed her husband forced her to admit a supposed illicit affair that she had denied vehemently. Not satisfied, the suspect pulled out the knife and stabbed her.
It was also Gera who brought his wife to the Cebu City Medical Center. He was held by the hospital’s guard, Manolito Aloro, and was turned over subsequently to the homicide section of the Cebu City Police Office.
Gera’s younger brother, Marvin, was the one who turned over to the police the kitchen knife used in the stabbing. The knife, measuring 12 ½ inches, was still stained with blood when placed under the police’s custody.
Meanwhile, in the neighboring barangay of San Nicolas, a tricycle driver was arrested for stabbing another tricycle driver with an ice pick.
The suspect was identified as Jecris Tura Caballes, 30, and the victim was identified as Gen Alkuino Pilapil, 25.
Pilapil said Caballes got irked when he arrived and forced one passenger to ride in his cab without him lining up at the waiting area.
An argument ensued, which led to a fistfight and with Caballes stabbing Pilapil with an ice pick four times.
Barangay watchmen who saw the commotion immediately arrested the suspect, confiscated the ice pick, and brought the victim to CCMC. – Angelica S. Bertos, NSU ComArts Intern/JMO
