CEBU, Philippines - A former ambulance driver of Dumanjug town died while another man was injured after they figured in a road accident in Barangay Liong, Dumanjug last Tuesday night.

Raul Delogolo, 39, of Barangay Paculob, suffered severe injuries in the body after his Honda HRM motorcycle hit the tricycle driven by Raul Delgado, 38, of Barangay Lawaan.

The motorcycle did not have a plate number.

Both men were brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City but Delogolo passed away at the hospital.

Delgado, meanwhile, is recuperating from his injuries.

PO1 Mauro Dagle, desk officer, said both men were driving toward Ronda town when they hit each other at a dark portion of the road.

“Ngitngit didtong dapita unya wa baya nay suga ang sikad wa pud nay reflector (The place was very dark and the tricycle did not have lights, much more reflectors),” Dagle said in a phone interview.

Delogolo’s motorcycle also did not have signal lights and he was not wearing a helmet.

According to witnesses, Delogolo was also travelling at a high speed but police could not determine if he was under the influence of liquor at that time.

Both vehicles involved are in the custody of the police station.  (FREEMAN)
