CEBU, Philippines - A 50-year-old woman died on the spot after she was shot by his live-in partner minutes after she left workplace in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City Thursday evening.
Degelia Dimpas, a quality control employee of Prifoods based in Barangay Canduman, was shot to death by her cousin who is also her live-in partner Luis Dimpas, 55.
SPO2 Marcus Noval of the Investigative and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office said that around 7:20 last Thursday evening, the victim and her niece left the premises of Prifoods when they were met by the suspect few meters from the workplace.
The suspect then told her live-in partner that he wanted to talk to her but the victim answered she would only talk to her at the barangay hall.
In effect, this angered the suspect which led him to shoot the victim four times using a .38 caliber revolver, hitting her in the different parts of the body which caused her instantaneous death.
The suspect immediately fled after the incident.
Further investigation revealed that according to their two grown-up children, the couple would often quarrel because of jealousy while it was also learned that the suspect is jobless most of the time.
The children even witnessed their mother being mauled by their father everytime they are into an argument. Last Saturday, the victim could no longer bear all the beating so she left him.
Hours before the incident on Thursday, the suspect had a drinking spree with his friends in Barangay Labogon.
He also called his younger brother to inform him that he would be having dinner in his house which is near the victim's workplace.
After eating his dinner, he hurriedly left his brother's house to meet the victim at the place where the crime took place.
A hot pursuit operation is still being conducted for the arrest of the suspect who will be facing a murder case. —/JMD (FREEMAN)
