Unveiling of Cebu City monuments scheduled in June

CEBU, Philippines - The formal unveiling of the monuments of Don Vicente Rama and Don Sergio Osmeña Jr.  will be done in June, in time for the celebration of the Philippines’ Independence Day.

This was clarified by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama as it was earlier planned to have the unveiling on the celebration of Cebu City’s 75th Charter Day on February 24.

“Dili to. June to siya. Pag-approve gyud sa contract, pagpinirmahanay na, mao pa may pag down sa Insular Life Assurance Co. In other words, mao pay pagsugod og buhat. Dili mana ma-magic. Hopefully, mahuman gyud na siya by Independence Day.” Rama said.

Last month, Rama signed the deed of donation with Insular Life Assurance Co. Ltd, the donors of the life-size monuments of former senators Don Vicente Rama and Don Sergio Osmeña Jr which will be placed at the Plaza Sugbo in front of the Cebu City Hall.

The brass-made monuments worth P3 million are designed by renowned-national artist Eduardo Castrillo.

During the signing of the deed of donation, Insular Life Assurance Co. Ltd’s Vice President Enrico Cordoba expressed their gratitude for being allowed to be part of the project.  (FREEMAN)
