City police nab two drug pushers
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City police arrested two drug pushers and recovered 400 packs of suspected shabu in separate buy-bust operations yesterday.
At past 12:00 midnight, Tony Labaya, 51, a resident of Sitio Sario, Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City was arrested and recovered from his possession were the 330 packs of suspected shabu.
Police C/Insp. Romeo Santander, City Intelligence Branch chief, said that Labaya’s neighbor reported his illegal activities which prompted them to verify the report.
When found to be true, Santander ordered his men to conduct a buy-bust operation resulting to the arrest of the suspect.
Police also recovered the P400 buy bust money from Labaya’s possession.
Meanwhile, an earlier operation of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) also arrested a certain Ireneo Ministerio, 26, in Pung-ol Sibogay, Cebu City.
Recovered were a big and the six small packs of shabu in the possession of the subject of the buy-bust operation.
The drugs recovered from Ministerio are estimated to be worth P100, 000.
Ministerio admitted having engaged in the illegal drug business because of her mother’s health condition and he has no job.
Both Labaya and Ministerio will face the same charges for violation of Sec. 5 and 11 of Article 2 of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.— /GMR (FREEMAN)
