Drunk man assaults brgy chief
CEBU, Philippines - A drunken man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he assaulted Busay Barangay Captain Amie Lopez in front of Barangay Hall.
Eduardo Gaviola, 56, was dropped by a taxi at Busay Barangay Hall after he reportedly could not tell the driver where to go for being drunk.
Lopez who was at the Barangay Hall at that time went down to help Gaviola but the latter instead got irked, turned at him and tried to punch him.
This prompted Lopez to grab Gaviola and tried to hold him but both of them fell down on the road.
Lopez asked the help of PO2 Nemesio Gaviola of Cebu City Public Safety Company who arrested the suspect.
Gaviola was brought by the police to Cebu City Medical Center for liquor test which yielded a positive result.
The suspect was brought to Cebu City Public Safety Company's lock up cell and was detained for one night and was released after paying the fine for drunkenness.
Lopez said that after Gaviola begged him for forgiveness, he decided not to file direct assault charges against him.
Instead he asked Gaviola to clean the Barangay Hall for two days. Gaviola is set to complete his cleaning job earlier today. (FREEMAN)
