Davide finally sits at Governor’s office

CEBU, Philippines - After five months of holding office in the old session hall, Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III has finally transferred at the original governor’s office main Capitol building yesterday.

The office had underwent renovations when Davide and other Capitol officials assumed office on June 30.

The Capitol spent P738, 678.63 for the renovation, repainting, lighting, and putting up some fixtures and furnitures.

Capitol information officer Ethel Natera the earth-colored inspired simple office of the governor is made possible through his high school friend who is now an architect.

The furnitures which include the governor’s table and chairs, and four cabinets, were personally chosen by the governor’s wife, Jovel, said Natera. 

More furnitures are set to arrive said Natera.

Old chandeliers are still existing at the governor’s office as well as old sofas.

Before Davide’s assumption into office, most if not all furnitures in the office were personal belongings of the Garcia family who ruled Capitol for 18 years.

Former governor Pablo Garcia served the position in 1995 to 2004 and he was succeeded by his daughter, now third district Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia, in 2004 to 2013.

Gwendolyn was suspended by six months, from December 19, 2012 to June 17, 2013, and only had few days left for her to turn over the office to Davide.

The family took the personal belongings  and furnitures from the Capitol when they were no longer in power. (FREEMAN)
