Capitol employees to get P20T each

CEBU, Philippines - Capitol employees will get a total of P31.2 million in Christmas bonus, Cebu Governor Hilario P. Davide announced during a Mass at the Capitol Social Hall yesterday.

Each of the 1,564 Capitol employees will receive P20,000 and 25 kilos of rice. The bonus is P10,000 lesser than the one given last year.

Davide said that the bonus will be useful especially for the employees affected by the recent catastrophes.

“The provincial government feels for their services nga ato pod hatagan og incentives…I think P20,000 for the employees para nako is fair and reasonable,” he added.

The Provincial Board has yet to approve the P31-million supplemental budget representing the Christmas bonus for the employees, but Davide said that the budget has been justified with the Commission on Audit.

“We actually wrote a letter to COA. Ang justification ana dili man ni regular, we give it once a year ra man ni,” he said.

He, however, clarified that only those employees who rendered service as of October 31 of this year are entitled to the bonus.

Further, he added that barangay health workers and tanods will also receive productivity incentives, but the amount has yet to be determined.

“We are studying it nga we will give to tanods and BHW. Lahi-lahi ang reach, amo pang tan-awon. They will get something this Christmas,” he said. — Michael H. Braga and Jean Marvette A. Demecillo, USJR intern/BRP (FREEMAN)
