Typhoon victims to get used clothing
CEBU, Philippines - Stored at the Capitol building for several weeks, used clothing will be distributed next week until the third week of December as part of the Cebu Provincial Government’s “gift giving†program.
Residents of 15 Northern Cebu localities worst-hit by super typhoon Yolanda are the intended beneficiaries.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Officer-in-charge Evelyn Senajon said that the used clothing got stored for a time because they prioritized the “food-for-work†program for victims of super typhoon Yolanda.
She said additional items like biscuits, candies, and underwear would be packed together with the used clothing to benefit the places badly hit by the super typhoon.
PSWDO intends to coordinate with the local government units in distributing the packs and in preparing a program to entertain the super typhoon survivors.
During the event, “family kits†would be given as prizes for raffle draws. Each kit would have clothing for a small family and other goods.
Senajon, though, said only 65 families per place would have the chance to grab a family kit.
The families will come from Bogo City and towns of Daanbantayan, Medellin, San Remigio, Bogo, Bantayan, Sta. Fe, Madridejos, San Francisco, Poro, Pilar, Tudela, Tabuelan, Borbon, Tabogon, and Sogod.— (FREEMAN)
