CCMC gets nod from council to renew permit to operate

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) may already proceed in renewing their permit with the Department of Health (DOH) after the Cebu City council yesterday approved the measure recognizing the temporary operation of the hospital at the Bureau of Fire Protection-7 building.

“We interpose no objection to temporary operation of CCMC at BFP-7. However, the committee leaves the court to decide (property ownership),” read Councilor Gerardo Carillo on the committee report on Laws.

Last November 6, the Hospital Board passed a resolution requesting the council to pass a measure “for the exigency of service to the Cebuano consti-tuents”.

The Cebu City Medical Center Board through the Hospital Board Resolution No. 001-2013 requested the city council to pass a resolution to temporarily operate a health facility in the BFP compound after the CCMC building was declared unsafe to use following the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Cebu and Bohol last month.

Councilor Lea Japson, chairman on the committee on health, earlier explained to the city council that CCMC needs the measure for the temporary hospital to continue operation next year.

She said they have to renew the permit from (DOH) before the year ends since it would expire in January.

“The council through a resolution shall recognize the operation of CCMC being transferred and temporarily operating at the BFP building to renew the business permit,” Japson said. — (FREEMAN)
