International eucharistic congress

CEBU, Philippines - Due to the recent typhoon, changes have been made for the upcoming launch of the International Eucharistic Commission (IEC) which is to take place in the year 2016.

“At another time, this (IEC) could have been a purely religious affair,” said Msgr. Marnell Mejia. But in the wake of Yolanda, Mejia said apart from the Eucharistic Celebration by 4 in the afternoon on November 24, a procession will take place after from Fuente Osmeña to Plaza Sugbo where devotees are encouraged to bring at least one can of sardines or one bottle of water.

Mejia, the chairman of the committee on procession said this will be an activity of “deeper dimension.”

“This procession, specifically, will become an act of solidarity for our suffering brothers and sisters,” expressed Mejia, adding “we do not just become participants of a procession, we become good Samaritans.”
