BOPK allies take oath anew before Rama

CEBU, Philippines - Some Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) barangay officials who have taken their oath before their party leaders also joined yesterday the mass oath-taking administered by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama to his allies at the City Hall.

There were 14 barangay captains, nine in the north district and five in south district and closed to a hundred of councilmen who are BOPK allies joined the activity.

In the north district, they are barangay captains Eduardo Lauron of Carreta, Patronilo Fat Jr. of Hipodromo, Nerissa Antolihao of Budla-an, Casimiro Pilones of Paril,  Manny Pepito of Mabini, Pancho Ramirez of Sto. Niño, Maria Velasquez of Pulangbato, Reynaldo Ompoc of Mabolo and Felix Limotan of Sirao.

Likewise, in the south district are barangay captains Harry Eran of Cogon, Pardo, Winefredo Macario of Sudlon II, Gremar Barete of Buhisan, Julius Guioguio of Pasil, and Rodrigo Jabellana of Bulacao.

A total of 27 out of 34 barangay chiefs  from the south district and 39 out of 46 barangays from the north district have taken their oath before Rama.

The BOPK-allied barangay officials had already taken oath over the weekend before Rep. Raul del Mar and Rep. Rodrigo Abellanosa.

Ompoc said he received an invitation a week ago concerning the “no political color mass oath taking,” which urged them to attend as a way to pay respect to Rama.

“Siya man ang mayor, respetohan gyod nato kay di pasabot naa mi sa pikas di na mi mosunod sa mandato kay kining amo pagserbisyo lamang alang sa kaayohan sa katawhan dili kun pamolitika,” Ompoc said.

Eran also supported Ompoc’s statement saying “ang among tumong serbisyo dili pamolitika.”

BOPK head, former mayor Tomas Osmeña, earlier said he would not take against his allies if they will tap or ask Rama for projects taking into consideration the welfare of the general public.

Rama thanked those barangay officials who responded to his invitation.

“The oath taking is for all but for those who didn’t attend it was never my loss, it was yours (barangay officials). However, I thanked them because I became part of their ceremony, when they oath for office,” Rama said.

Rama during the oath taking told the officials “you are the chosen few so provide true service not for your own sake but for others who need your real and utmost service”.  (FREEMAN)
