Trisikad driver gunned down

CEBU, Philippines - A trisikad driver died while his neighbor was injured in a shooting incident in Barangay Ermita yesterday morning.

Alexander Tura, 46, a resident of the said barangay, died of multiple gunshot wounds in the body after three men reportedly shot him to death.

Tura’s neighbor, Raymond Morales, 29, was hit with a stray bullet.

Based on the investigation, Tura was walking along Ermita Proper with his wife Liezel and their son at around 9:30 in the morning when three men arrived and one of them suddenly shot Tura.

Morales, who was passing by the area, was hit on his left knee and left foot. He was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment.

SPO1 Ruth Violango of the Homicide Section said Tura’s wife identified the one who shot the victim as a certain Michael while the two others were Ramboo and Opaw.

According to Violango, the wife alleged that someone has ordered her husband to kill a man who owed him something.

Tura reportedly did not comply with the order, said his wife, which she alleged was the reason he ended up being the one killed.

Violango said it was not clear what the debt was, but they suspected that it was illegal drugs.

Police recovered seven empty shells of a caliber 45 pistol and four slugs from the crime scene.

The assailants, who ran away after gunning down the trisikad driver, remain at large.  — (FREEMAN)
