CEBU, Philippines - A total of P155 million worth of projects will be given by the national and local governments in the second district of the Province of Cebu
This was announced by Rep. Wilfredo Caminero during the “Katilingban Argawanon†event Friday night.
The Department of Health (DOH) will be giving P70 million for Isidro Kintanar Memorial District Hospital in Argao while the National Anti-Poverty Commission will also give P12 million for livelihood projects.
While the P25 million pesos was already given by the Department of Agriculture for farm- to-market road, a total of P48 million of local funds is also set aside for other agriculture-related projects that will be realized next year.
“Okay na tanan for bidding nalang,†said Argao Mayor Edsel Galeos.
Caminero said that scholarship grants will be given to 300 underprivileged but deserving students by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Governor Hilario Davide III who hails from Argao also said that in the next three years, the Province of Cebu will be providing quality educators and classrooms, improved health services, especially upgrading the equipment in all district hospitals.
Meanwhile, the “Katilingban Argawanon†awarded plaques of recognition to Argawanons who have achieved in different fields of endeavors.
They are Davide, Caminero, Galeos, Borbon Mayor Bernard Sepulveda, Argao Vice Mayor Stanley Caminero, and Provincial Board Member Aladin Wilyamie Caminero, president of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of the Province of Cebu.
Other Argawanons who received the award are Rep. Dulce Ann Hofer (2nd district, Zamboanga Sibugay), Mayor Joel Ray Lopez (Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur), Mayor Jaime Caminero (Kiblawan, Davao del Sur) and Mayor Arthur Davin (Magsaysay, Davao del Sur),
Special awards were given to Dr. Romulo Davide, the governor’s uncle and Ramon Magsaysay awardee, and late Vicente Kintanar, a posthumurous awardee.
“This honor belongs to you Argawanon. You contributed to all the honors,†Gov. Davide said.
The awards were given to the honorees for giving pride and inspiration to the Argawanons. The event was a prelude of the town fiesta celebration on September 27-28. (FREEMAN)
