Susan Fuentes, 58 Queen of Visayan Songs dies statement of dodong and nena gullas
CEBU, Philippines - Nena and I are deeply saddened by the untimely passing of one of our greatest Cebuano singers, Ms. Susan Fuentes. I fondly recall how we were once privileged to have her honor our invitation to be one of our Guests of Honor to the launching of my memoirs.
After years of searching for her, it was a thrill to see her perform alongside one of the other honored guests, Pilita Corrales. The year after was memorable as well, when in December 2012, Susan Fuentes was recognized by the JRG Halad Foundation as one of that year’s awardees for outstanding contributions to Cebuano music.
We missed her physical presence at the time but she nevertheless honored us with a message recorded in her own voice.
May God give Susan Fuentes the eternal rest she richly deserves. (FREEMAN)
