LTFRB issues show-cause order vs. Ceres bus line

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-7 has issued a show-cause order to the management of the Vallacar Transit Inc., operator of Ceres Liner, after one of their buses figured in an accident last Sunday in Argao town.

LTFRB-7 legal officer Evelyn Misal said that the show cause order is to give the bus management an opportunity to explain why their franchise should not be cancelled.

“We issued the show cause order for Vallacar to answer why their franchise should not be cancelled,” Misal said.

LTFRB-7 Regional Director Ahmed Cuizon earlier said that the 11 buses are covered by one franchise, under case number 09-3511 or the Cebu City-Santander via Oslob-Moalboal route.

LTRFB-7 scheduled the hearing to hear the side of the bus company on Sept. 2, 2013.

A woman was killed while ten others were injured in the accident.

Midwife Maria Teresa Ceballos was reportedly sitting at the window side and was thrown from her seat upon impact.

Those injured were Darlyn Heredia, 19; Fritz Abella, 22; Carlito Sereño, 53; Ian Neil Ladera, 21; Arnold Alcatin, 39; Alma Medalle, 46; Joseph Biraque, 27; Lea Mae Pangilinan, 21; bus driver Ernesto Zerna and his conductor, John Levi Cabanas, 23. –(FREEMAN)
