Cop’s motorcycle stolen outside Pardo station

Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - In an ironic twist of fate, a thief stole a policeman’s motorcycle as it was parked outside the police station in Barangay Pardo last Thursday night.

Police Officer 2 Gilbert Igot said he did not notice anything amiss while he was manning the desk of the Pardo Police Station that night.

Igot said that around 10 p.m., he went outside the police station to answer the call of nature.

“Pagkahuman nako’g pangihi, nisusi ko sa gawas unya nabantayan nako wala na man akong motor. Giayo g’yud nako og tan-aw, wala man g’yud. Dia sad nako ang yawi, so nagtuo gyud kong gi-carnap,” Igot recalled.

He then informed his colleagues about what happened and subsequently tried to find the missing black Honda XRM motorcycle with license plate numbers GU 7268.

A woman who went to visit one of the detainees at the police station later reported she noticed someone noisily maneuvering a motorcycle outside the police station just before Igot’s motorcycle was discovered missing.

Police believe that the thief took advantage of last Thursday evening’s heavy rain to steal the motorcycle.

Igot said he did not fasten the motorcycle to anything, assuming that no one will dare steal the motorcycles parked just some two meters outside the police station.

The policeman shared that the said motorcycle served as his remembrance in entering the police organization.

â€œFirst loan tawon to nako ma’am, naa to’y sentimental value nako. Wa g’yud to’y respeto ang nagkuha ato,” Igot said.

Igot said he will continue to look for his motorcycle and also appealed to the public to report to their police station should they find his motorcycle.  (FREEMAN)
