CEBU, Philippines - Two people died in separate road accidents involving motorcycles in Dalaguete and Barili over the weekend.
Rex Villahermosa, 47, resident of Barangay Cawayan, Dalaguete, died on the spot when his Rusi motorcycle rammed into the metal railings along the national highway at 5 p.m. last Sunday. Villahermosa lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a blind curve.
He was rushed to Ildefonso Alcantara Memorial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Five hours later, a 35-year-old motorcycle-for-hire driver also died of an accident in Barangay Poblacion, Barili.
Vicente Laborte was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle heading towards Poblacion public market when a stray dog suddenly crossed the road. Laborte hit the dog and lost control of the motorcycle causing the crash.
Laborte suffered massive head injuries because he was not wearing a crash helmet when it happened. The victim was reportedly traveling at a high speed making it hard for him to control the motorcycle when the dog suddenly crossed.
