CEBU, Philippines - The Land Transportation Office is coming up with a new design of vehicle plates anytime this year to stop the proliferation of tampered license plates.
LTO-7 director Raul Aguilos said that all regional directors are meeting in Manila on Thursday to discuss the new program.
The program dubbed as the “Plate Modernization Program†will cost the government P3.85 billion.
The amount will cover the 5.236 million new license plates for vehicles and 9.968 million for motorcycles nationwide.
According to the Department of Transportation and Communication, the new license plates will have an alphanumeric combination involving three letters and a four-digit number. (FREEMAN)
