P1.5 million shabu seized in buy-bust

CEBU, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-7 yesterday nabbed an alleged level two drug pusher and seven others in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City in a buy-bust operation.

Seized during the operation was about 400 grams of drugs worth P1.5 million.

Lawyer Bernard dela Cruz, agent on case, said their office conducted a two- month surveillance against Jhonilito Mayol, the subject of the buy bust which was conducted at around 3 p.m.

 Mayol allegedly sells drugs in the barangay and the NBI is verifying reports that he also sells illegal drugs to students of universities in Talamban and in the downtown area of Cebu City.

Among those arrested was one Anna Roa, the suspected courier, who was allegedly caught having in her possession one big pack of shabu.

Roa was the only female among the arrested suspects.

Others were identified as Romeo Baylon, Junrey Ansero, Archie Cabrellos, Ferdinand Jugador, Jonathan Cortes and Christopher Dizon.

Recovered from their possession were five big packs and five small packs of shabu that weigh about 400 grams with an estimated street value of P1.5 million.

Aside from the illegal drugs, NBI also seized a M16 riffle from one of the alleged lookouts of Mayol.

In an interview, Roa denied the allegation saying she went to the area because she wanted to collect the payment of the chicken she sold to Mayol.

Mayol also denied the allegations while the other suspects refused to comment.  (FREEMAN)
