Rama on getting Oliva back to CH: “I have not thought about it yet”

CEBU, Philippines - Questions on whether or not re-elected Mayor Michael Rama will get Ofelia Oliva back as the city treasurer were not directly answered by the local chief executive.

“I do not want to think about that right now. I am savoring the moment (oathtaking),” Rama told reporters after marking his second term at the historic Plaza Independencia.

He added that he does not want to announce his new city treasurer together with the rest of the incoming department heads especially since the appointment of Emma Villarete is set to end on July 17.

Rama earlier announced his new set of department heads to help him as he starts his second term today, July 1.

Some were retained while others were replaced most notably those who reportedly walked out when the mayor asked them to support his reelection bid.

Rama and his core group which is tasked to assess the performance of casual employees released Friday the initial list of renewed employees to continue working today.

Asked if Rama will reconsider appeals from casual employees recommended for non renewal, the mayor explained the decision will be based on his and core group’s assessment.

So far, there are about 300 employees recommended for non-renewal.

Human resources chief Atty. Dominic Diño said another set of list containing the names of renewed casual employees will be released today.  JPM (FREEMAN)
