Magpale to preside over last PB session

AJ de la Torre - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Vice Governor Agnes Magpale will be presiding over the last session of the Provincial Board this coming Monday.

This as Magpale reassumed her position as vice governor of the province this week after Governor Gwendolyn Garcia returned as governor after her six-month suspension ended last June 18.

“Yes I will be presiding the last session,” confirmed Magpale,

For the past six months it was PB member Julian Daan who has been presiding over the PB sessions as acting vice governor.

Magpale said that they hope to have everyone present especially the outgoing members who lost their bid for re-election or ran for a different position.

Magpale said they were planning to have a ceremonial awarding for the outgoing members but they were informed that two members will not be attending the session anymore.

In fact, provincial board members Sergio Restauro of the 1st district and Caesar Ian Zambo of the 3rd district have not been attending the PB sessions since after the election.

Restauro lost his re-election bid to Raul Alcoseba while Zambo lost to Gigi Sanchez, daughter of the late vice governor Greg Sanchez.

Second district board member Wilfredo Caminero will also be on his last session this Monday as he takes his congressional seat following his victory over incumbent 2nd district Rep. Pablo Garcia.

Cristopher Baricuatro will be replacing Caminero in the Provincial Board. There will be eight out of 12 members of the PB who are allied with the Liberal Party including all newcomers plus incumbent Members Peter John Calderon, Miguel Magpale, Jude Durano Sybico, Teddy Ouano and Arleigh Sitoy.

PB members from the One Cebu party are Julian Daan of the 1st district, Alex Binghay of the 3rd district and Sun Shimura and Benjun Mondigo of the 4th district.  (FREEMAN)
