Man commits suicide, another shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - A man committed suicide after allegedly feeling guilty that he took for granted his girlfriend’s love.

Jeb Buanghog Jabarro, 24, jobless, was found lifeless hanging inside his room at Lower, Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, at around 9 AM last May 19.

Niño Mago, Jabarro’s cousin, went upstairs to get his motorcycle keys. He knocked on the door but Jabarro did not answer. Mago opened the door and found Jabarro’s lifeless body hanging inside the room. Mago then called the police for assistance.

Police investigation led by PO3 Lydo Pinos revealed that at around 3AM last May 19, Jabarro called his girlfriend and they talked about her departure.

PO3 Pinos said Jabarro may have been depressed that his negligence of his girlfriend’s love made her choose to leave.

“Paghuman ug text sa iyang uyab ug ‘pahuway na’, ni reply si Jabarro ug, ‘mopahuway na gyud ko. Sorry, imong USB naa nako. Kwa-a lang niya ni. (After his girlfriend sent him a text message telling him to rest, Jabarro replied that he will ‘really rest’. He even apologized and said her USB is with him and told her to just get it),” added PO3 Pinos.

The text message led them to look for the USB and check its contents. There they found Jabarro’s suicidal letter saying how sad and guilty he felt for not loving his girlfriend enough, the way she loved him.

The police also discovered that Jabarro’s family had a history of suicides and that he is the 3rd person among their kin to commit suicide.
