Driver shot dead

CEBU, Philippines - A 51-year old taxi driver was shot dead yesterday dawn in Barangay Punta Princesa.

Alex Cagamcam, resident of the said barangay, succumbed to a single gunshot wound in left chest.

The suspect was identified as Carmelo Jenovisa Sanchez, 55, who was immediately arrested by the police during a follow up operation.

SPO1 Victor Ayuman, homicide investigator, said that the personal grudge was seen as possible motive in the crime.  According to the police, the victim figured in an earlier incident with the live-in partner of the suspect.

Sanchez was identified by Dave Rose, son of the victim, as the person who shot his father. According to Dave Rose, he was having a conversation with his friends when the suspect went inside their house and shot his father who was sleeping on a sofa.

The victim was rushed by his wife, Helen, to the Cebu City Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival. (FREEMAN)
