CEBU, Philippines - Acting Cebu Governor Agnes Magpale allegedly failed to fulfill her promise to restore electricity and fix the generator set in Hilantagaan, Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island last April 16.
Magpale earlier promised that the generator sets in the island will be fixed by the Provincial Engineering Office on the said date.
But fourth district Rep. Benhur Salimbangon during his visit in Sta. Fe last week learned that the island remained to have no supply of electricity until now.
Hilantagaan barangay captain Gelor Marabe said that a mechanic arrived in their place three weeks ago but did not do anything to fix the damage.
As a result also, Marabe said that the people continue buying water in the mainland of Sta. Fe because they did not have electricity to run their water system.
The generator set was put up by Salimbangon and Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.
Salimbangon earlier expressed dismayed over Magpale’s lack of interest to address the electricity concern of Hilantagaan after its generator broke down last year.
Magpale’s failure to deliver a promise was capitalized by Salimbangon in asking the people to vote for gubernatorial candidate Pablo John Garcia to ensure continuous delivery of projects and services.
Mondigo also said that he made a request to Magpale for the repair of the said generator set last February 12, 2013 yet.
Magpale denied the allegations saying that she immediately asked the engineering office to look into it after learning about it.
She explained that they needed to change parts that are not available locally causing the delay in its repair.
Magpale said they have already ordered the parts but it would take sometime before it will arrive. (FREEMAN)
