CEBU, Philippines - A day after the local Liberal Party slate launched a campaign in Bantayan Island, opposition One Cebu Party is also set to have its three-day sorties in the area starting today.
One Cebu, led by its gubernatorial candidate, Rep. Pablo John “PJ†Garcia, will not only visit the three towns in the island but also the island-barangays.
There is no assurance yet if Garcia’s runningmate, former Danao City vice mayor Ramon “Boboy†Durano IV, could join him after he was medically advised for complete rest due to severe dehydration he experienced.
Reelectionist fourth district Rep. Benhur Salimbangon said that today, from Hagnaya port in San Remigio, they are set to cross to Kinatarcan Island, part of Sta. Fe town, composed of three barangays of Langub, Hagdan and Bitoon.
From Kinatarcan Island, the group will return to Hagnaya port for a rally in Looc, San Remigio and Tapilon, Daanbantayan.
Aside from Garcia and Salimbangon, joining the group are reelectionist members of the Provincial Board, Sun Shimura and Joven Mondigo Jr. and the local candidates of One Cebu.
On Tuesday, the group will have its proclamation rally in Sta. Fe and Bantayan.
Sta. Fe is led by mayoral candidate Jose “Ti-ting†Esgana while incumbent Bantayan Mayor Ian Christopher Escario is unopposed.
On Wednesday, One Cebu will have its proclamation rally in Madridejos led by incumbent Mayor Salvador dela Fuente.
On Thursday, One Cebu will have its proclamation rally in Bogo City led by its mayoralty candidate, Daphne Salimbangon, daughter of Benhur.
The LP will also have its proclamation rally in Bogo City on Friday led by incumbent Mayor Celestino “Junie†Martinez Jr.
President Benigno Aquino III is set to attend the LP rally in Bogo City.
Aquino was scheduled to attend the inauguration of the new Bogo City Hall last March but it did not push through and was moved to April 19.
The inauguration will be followed by the proclamation rally to be attended by LP’s provincial slate as well as candidates for the fourth district and fifth districts of Cebu.
Aquino will be in Cebu City on Thursday to attend the proclamation rally of LP-Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) in front of the Capitol Building led by Cebu City South District Rep. Tomas Osmeña who is running for mayor. — (FREEMAN)
