City’s PTA head asked to explain inconsistency

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Bag-ong Sugbo Foundation has challenged the president of the Cebu City Federation of Parents-Teachers-Associations Inc. to tell the truth behind an advertisement published in a local Cebuano tabloid paid for by Cebu City Councilor Bebot Abellanosa.

“There is a need to clarify the truth about the signature of Mr. Harvey V. Inoc in a paid advertisement that questioned what Atty. Totol Batuhan has done for the Cebuano community,” said Abet Cabahug of the Bag-ong Sugbo Foundation in a press statement sent to The FREEMAN.

The paid political advertisement has been published two days in a row. It bears the name of Inoc as among those having signed the statement.

“We are issuing this statement because on February 16, 2013, on the 15th anniversary celebration of the Cebu City Federation of Parents-Teachers Association, Inc. at the Cebu Mariners Court, Atty. Batuhan personally received a Plaque of Recognition in behalf of Bag-ong Sugbo Foundation that he formed on September 21, 1991,” Cabahug said.

The certificate said Bag-ong Sugbo Foundation got the “special recognition, heartiest congratulation, and commendations… for continuously supporting the Cebu City Federation of PTA, Inc. in improving the physical aspects of the school and in our quest for quality basic education.”

The document was signed by Inoc and Dr. Rhea Mar A. Angtud, Cebu City Division schools division superintendent.

Batuhan and Abellanosa are running for congressman in Cebu City South District.   (FREEMAN)
