Two human skeletons found in lake

CEBU, Philippines - Two human skeletal remains were found in a lake in Sitio Tabok Lamac, Barangay Yati, Liloan Sunday afternoon.

These were wrapped in a volleyball net tied with a concrete post believed to have been used as weight to ensure that the skeletons will remain underwater.

Hipolito Pitogo Jocotmaya, 61, widower, fished out the skeletal remains from the lake at 2:30 p.m.

SPO3 Marcelino Servilla said that Jocotmaya was catching mudfish at the lake when he stepped on the net prompting him to pull it and found the human skeletons.

Investigation shows that the net used was new since it did not have traces of moss or even dark stains.

“Sinaw pa kaayo ang net unya wala pay lama sa lumot limpyo pa ba possible bag-o lang to,” Servilla said.

The skeletons were already submitted to the PNP Crime Laboratory to determine the gender and the age.

Servilla said the skulls did not have cracks and it is now difficult to determine the cause of death.

“Kung gipatay man gani ni possible sa lawas ra pero lisod na i-determine ug giunsa pagpatay kay puro na man bukog,” Servilla said in a phone interview.

The police are now coordinating with the residents in the place as well as in the nearby barangays to identify the remains.  (FREEMAN)
