CEBU, Philippines - A 39-year-old man was shot dead while having a drinking session at a videoke house shortly before 1:00 in the morning yesterday along Lopez Jaena St., Barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City.
The unidentified assailant just entered the JP and J eatery and videoke house and shot Jumar Lacinto from behind, hitting him once on the back.
Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) paramedics tried to rush Lacinto to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
PO2 John Carlo Jocutan, investigator, said Lacinto was seen having a drinking session with two females inside the videoke house before the shooting took place at 12:50 a.m.
Witnesses said the assailant was wearing a golden wig, black jacket and armed with a handgun.
The bullet exited Lacinto’s chest which caused his immediate death.
The assailant reportedly fled on foot and removed his wig a few meters from the crime scene, “Sa unahan na gitangtang samtang naglakaw nga mura la’g way nahitabo, (He just removed his wig while walking as if nothing happened.)†Jocutan said in a phone interview.
No evidence was recovered from the crime scene.
Jocutan added that they could not yet determine the motive of the killing since nobody personally knew Lacinto.
Police investigation revealed that Lacinto was a dispatcher of a public utility multicab in Cordova town but upon follow up, nobody knew the victim. — (FREEMAN)
