Guy in sex video to take “lie test”

Mylen P. Manto - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The former boyfriend and partner of a university student in the controversial sex video that has become viral on the Internet will voluntarily submit himself to a polygraph test.

This is in line with the ongoing investigation conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation to determine who uploaded the video to the social networking sites.

NBI Supervising Agent Rey Villordon said the guy agreed to take the “lie detector” test next week after his final exams. The guy is a graduating student in one of the universities in Cebu.

He appeared before the NBI office last Friday in response to a subpoena issued by Villordon. The boy was accompanied by lawyers Chevrolie Maglasang and Joseph Randi Torregosa.

Villordon said the guy was very cooperative in the investigation. He denied any participation in the uploading of the video on the Internet. He also claimed to be a victim like his former girlfriend.

“He considered himself a victim,” Villordon said.

The guy claimed that his cellphone, where the video was stored, got lost during a drinking session with his friends. He confirmed the girl’s statement that the video of them in their intimate moments was taken two years ago.

The guy said he does not have a motive to upload the video because there was no animosity between him and the girl when they decided to break up.

Villordon said he will also summon the friends of the guy, who were with him on the day his cellphone got lost, to take the polygraph test.

The female student in the video earlier sought the assistance of the NBI to find out who uploaded the video and to stop its sharing, distribution and sale.

She was accompanied by the officials of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) where she is a graduating student.

The video became viral in social networking sites and in Bluetooth-enabled devices last month, prompting USJ-R officials to come to assist the student.

Despite the scandal, the school has assured that the student can graduate if she complies with all the academic requirements of her course.  — /FPL (FREEMAN)
