P.5M taken in burglary

CEBU, Philippines - A family lost almost half million worth of valuables to a burglar who went inside their house in Barangay Vito, Minglanilla Saturday evening.

Elisemo Abatol, 49, supervisor of the National Grid Corporation, and his family just came from a family visit in CarcarCity when they were surprised to see their window grill was destroyed around 9:30 p.m.

Upon inventory, Abatol found out that they lost their Lenovo laptop worth P60,000; HP laptop worth P60,000; another laptop worth P20,000; a Kodak digital camera worth P12,000; and a Power System Simulation software worth P300,000.

Insp. Rodgene Pudotan, deputy chief, said that two persons could have been involved based on footprints they found on the floor.

“Ang usa mura’g bata kay gagmay og tiil unya ang usa maoy siguro diha sa gawas,” Pudotan said in a phone interview. (One could be a child, based on the size of the footprints.)

Initial investigation revealed that burglars climbed the perimeter fence of the house. They then detached the grill of the window at the living room and destroyed the window screen.

“Base pud sa kang-a sa grill murag giligwatan og puthaw gamay ra gyud kaayo nga impossible makaagi ang dako nga tao,” he added. (The opening at the window was so small, an adult couldn’t have entered through it.)

Items lost were taken from the room at the ground floor of the house.

Pudotan said they now have leads but he refused to disclose further information pending investigation.  (FREEMAN)
