CEBU, Philippines - A man said to be suffering from mental problems, was arrested and detained after he allegedly went wild and tried to stab a policeman in Barangay Victoria, San Remigio, around 2 p.m. last Friday.
Before landing in jail, 43-year-old Diomedes Golisao landed in the hospital after he was shot by a responding policeman.
Earlier, the acting chief of police of the San Remegio Police Station received a call from Barangay Captain Immie Sipalay asking for assistance regarding Golisao.
SPO1s Jovanne Placencia and Nicolas Navales responded to the alarm.
The two arrived in the area and saw Golisao armed with two bolos and two kitchen knives. He already caused damage to four houses in the place.
The police officers tried to negotiate with the suspect to calm him down.
However, instead of heeding them, the suspect threw the knives at Placencia, who managed to dodge them.
As if not contented, the suspect attacked Placencia with a bolo, prompting the policeman to shoot the suspect in the right thigh to cripple him.
The policemen then subdued the suspect and rushed him to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City for treatment.
The 22-inch bolos and 14-inch knives were recovered.
PO3 Jose Ylanan of San Remegio Police Station said the suspect was treated and released from the hospital on the same day and is now detained at the station’s detention cell.
“Dia diri, naka-detain. Nagpuyo ra man sad,†said Ylanan, adding that the prosecutor will determine the suspect’s fate tomorrow, considering his alleged mental condition. (FREEMAN)
