P200T cash, valuables lost to burglars

CEBU, Philippines -  Almost P200,000 worth of cash and valuables were stolen in separate burglary incidents in Bogo City and Daanbantayan last Wednesday.

A mini grocery in Barangay Sto. Rosario lost P145,000 to a former errand boy who allegedly broke into the store last Tuesday night.

The burglary was discovered Wednesday morning by G&O Enterprise owner Dominga Gulane. Gulane accused her nephew Evacueto Gulane, 30, of Barangay Marangong as the culprit.

Evacueto used to be an errand boy of the victim but was advised to resign last year because of previous incidents of theft in the store involving him. He was also allegedly caught using illegal drugs. The previous incidents however were not reported to the police.

PO3 Ryan Alarde, investigator, said that the victim was prompted to report the latest incident because of the amount involved.

Alarde said the suspect entered the store by detaching the air conditioning unit at the back portion of the building.

Once inside, the suspect destroyed the drawer where the money was placed using a screw driver.

Few hours after the incident in Bogo City, another burglary incident was reported in Barangay Bagay Daanbantayan.

Milagros Mission,60, told the police that an unidentified person broke into her house and took away assorted pieces of jewelry worth P50,000.

The victim said she was in Cebu City to attend to important matters when the incident happened.

The unidentified burglar detached the iron grill and jalousie blades of the window to gain entry into the house.

The burglary was discovered by the victim’s nephew, Arnel Magale.  (FREEMAN)
