CEBU, Philippines - Some allies of the Liberal Party in San Fernando town are backing independent vice gubernatorial candidate businessman Glenn Anthony Soco.
Last Tuesday, Soco visited the mountain barangay of Magsico, some nine kilometers from the national highway of San Fernando town, where he was met by officials of neighboring barangays of Tabionan, Tubod and Bugho.
Former San Fernando town councilor Eutiquio “Leo†Baricuatro, also candidate for councilor under LP this coming election, led Soco to meet and greet people at the Magsico satellite market.
Hundreds of people, some from mountain barangays of Carcar City, Toledo City and Pinamungajan town, were at the market for market day.
Baricuatro himself urged the people to vote for Soco for vice governor for his sincerity in going up to the mountains to meet the people.
“Among nakita ang ka sensero ni Glenn Soco nga nianhi gyud sa bukid dili lang kausa, kaduha na maong gihangop gyud siya sa mga tawo,†Baricuatro said.
He said that no other candidate yet has done what Soco is doing now.
Baricuatro said that gubernatorial candidate Hilario Davide III has been around in the mountain areas since he ran in 2010 but not his running mate, acting Governor Agnes Magpale.
He said that they already explained to San Fernando Mayor Antonio Canoy that they are supporting Soco for vice governor.
Tabionan barangay captain Rene “Boy†Dacalos also brought Soco to a meeting of the women’s sector in his residence although it was not part of his itinerary.
Bugho barangay captain Pedro Sebial also said that of the 21 barangay captains of San Fernando, 15 are allies of LP under Canoy while six are with One Cebu party under former mayor Lakambini Reluya.
Since Gerald Anthony “Sam-Sam†Gullas has no opponent for congressman, Baricuatro said they might support incumbent Provincial Board Member Julian Daan and Sergio Restauro of the One Cebu party.
Baricuatro said that they were dismayed at LP’s bet for PB, Cebu City Councilor Raul Alcoseba, for failing to come upon their invitation last week.
