Bus runs over girl in Bogo City

CEBU, Philippines -  A four-year-old girl died after she was ran over by a passenger bus in Barangay Dakit, Bogo City Thursday afternoon.

Ailyn Momongan died immediately after she was hit by a Ceres Bus Liner, bearing plate numbers GXJ 409, driven by Rico Sollano.

According to police investigation, the girl was walking at the roadside in sitio Kabankalan with her mother past 4 p.m. when she was accidentally released from her mother’s grip.

The girl then reportedly ran and tried to cross the road but was hit by the speeding bus bound for Cebu City.  Sollano, a resident of Barangay Canlagang in Borbon town, voluntarily surrendered to the responding police.

He was temporarily detained at the Bogo City Police Station and was later released after he was able to settle the matter with the girl’s family.

Police said Sollano assured to shoulder the expenses of the victim’s family. —LPM (FREEMAN)
