Davao escapee arrested in Liloan
CEBU, Philippines - An escapee from Davao City was arrested by the elements of the Consolacion Police Station last Monday afternoon in Barangay Jubay, Liloan.
Ricgen Jongco Baniqued, 24, was arrested at the Medillo’s Beach Resort around 2:15 p.m.
Baniqued has been placed under surveillance by the Consolacion police because of the information that he bolted out from the Calinan Police Station in Davao City in November 30, 2011.
Baniqued was reportedly sighted in Barangay Tayud, Consolacion by a police asset. The Consolacion police coordinated with the Calinan police station in Davao City to confirm Baniqued’s identity.
A fax copy of the warrant of arrest against Baniqued for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act was provided by the Caninan police to its counterpart in Consolacion.
After having secured a copy of the warrant with the suspect’s picture attached on it, Consolacion police operatives led by Insp. Leo Ty went to the resort where the suspect was sighted and placed him under arrest.
Baniqued first denied being an escapee from Danao City but was forced to admit after seeing his picture attached to the warrant.
He admitted having arrested in Davao last year for violation of the Section 5 of the Republic Act 9163 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Baniqued bolted out from detention by cutting the iron grill of the police station’s holding cell. He came to Cebu and settled at Consolacion where he works as barber at a parlor.
Ty said the suspect will be brought back to Davao City to face trial. —FPL (FREEMAN)
