Couple shot dead in Minglanilla

CEBU, Philippines - A couple was shot dead in Barangay Poblacion Ward IV, Minglanilla Wednesday evening.

Flores Lellosa del Rosario, 42, market vendor, and her live-in partner Alexander Samson, 40, were on their way home from the public market when the unidentified assailant shot them.  The victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds. They were rushed to Minglanilla District Hospital where they were declared dead on arrival.

Chief Insp. Timmar Alam, Minglanilla police chief, said the gunman could be a professional killer because of the manner it was executed.

“Pagdinaganay sa mga tawo nisagol ra pud ang gunman nga murag wala ra kuyawi knowing nga naa pu’y mga tao diha,” Alam said in a phone interview.

The gunman even walked past near the police station and a school.

Homicide investigators recovered four empty shells of 9mm pistol at the crime scene. According to Alam, some of the empty shells may have lost because of the commotion.

The police are looking at three possible motives behind the crime. These include love-triangle because del Rosario had two previous relationships before Samson. They are also looking at possible rivalry in the market place.

Del Rosario has a family in Pinamungajan but she allegedly abandoned her husband because of misunderstanding. She went to Minglanilla where she cohabited with another man for four years before meeting Samson.

Del Rosario and Samson have been living together for more than a year.

Alam said they have already invited two persons to shed light in their investigation. (FREEMAN)
