A laptop with an“optical keyboard”makes waves

While Google was making headlines with the products and services featured in “Pixel 2019,” a gaming brand got techies and industry stakeholders talking in showcasing what’s being touted as the “world’s first optical keyboard laptop.”

Essentially the result of the integration of the Razer brand’s hit “Huntsman” gaming keyboard into a laptop, the new “Blade 15 Advanced” laptop is prided to come with a keyboard that utilizes opto-mechanical switches as opposed to the mechanical keyboard standard.

The switches work with an infrared light beam that makes for faster and more accurate inputs. The setup results in typing experiences that are said to provide a more “satisfying tactile click,” and also arms the input system with a “zero debounce” feature that ensures that key strokes are registered without any delay.

Industry experts were quick to weigh in on the development, some going as far as indicating that it will likely be the next benchmark where keyboard standards are concerned.

A new salvo of gadgets by Google

New smartphones models, a new Chromebook model, a new mesh router system, a new pair of wireless headphones, and the forthcoming launch of a new cloud gaming platform. These were among the products and services unveiled by Google last week during the course of the internet-of-things giant’s “Pixel 2019” event.

Widely identified as one of the tech industry’s highly-awaited annual product unveilings, the latest of the brand’s Pixel smartphone series – the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL – were the main stars of the event.

The new models tout enhanced features like a new camera system that works with a hybrid optical and digital zoom feature that makes for a live HDR (high dynamic range) feature, improvements on the models’ night mode shooting capabilities and support for gesture-based controls, among many others.

One of the models’ notable new features takes the shape of an auto-transcribing feature that comes with its audio recording functions. The feature is more than an auto-transcribing feature since it comes with support for word scrubbing – which means that its users can ‘instruct’ the suite to focus on transcribing specific parts of an audio recording based on a given word or a set of words.

The brand’s new flagship Chromebook was also presented at the event. Dubbed “Pixel Go,” the model dons a refreshed minimalist-themed design that sets it as more than an update to last year’s edition.

Completing the event’s new product lineup unveiling was a new mesh router system dubbed “Nest,” a smart speaker that’s designed to work with the Nest system dubbed “Nest Mini” and the brand’s next-gen wireless headphones dubbed “Pixel Buds.”

All these new devices come with complementary functions to the “Google Assistant” feature, which additionally gives it voice-activated features to accomplish various tasks.

Capping the event’s product unveilings was the launch announcement of “Google Stadia” this November 19. At its core, Stadia is a cloud gaming platform that holds analogous service offerings to gaming-oriented services like Steam – setting it as Google’s foray into the general gaming and digital distribution segment.
