I’m going to Kindergarten!
I am so happy. Mama took me with her to school this morning. She enrolled me in kindergarten. I met Teacher Araceli. She looked so pretty and friendly. She was always smiling the whole time she was talking to me. She asked me some questions and I answered all of them. She told me about her pet puppy, Toby, and showed me pictures of him.
While waiting for my mother to finish filling out some forms, Teacher Araceli showed me a corner in the classroom that she called Reading Area. She lent me some books and we read them together. There were some puzzles and building blocks in the classroom, too. I had a great time. I wish I will be in her class.
My name is Ziva. I am really excited to go to school because I would like to meet new friends and study with them every day. I enjoy watching movies and playing games on the computer, but I think it will be a lot more fun to be in a classroom with children my age.
I used to watch older children pass by the house every morning. Some had their bags on their backs while others pulled their stroller bags behind them. I used to dream that one day I’d be in school uniform with my backpack and lunch bag. I’ve been dreaming of days I’d walk hand in hand with my classmates in going to school.
I was making a house with the building blocks when Mama came back. I proudly showed it to her and told her it was the biggest one I’ve ever made. She showed me the documents and explained that starting next week I would have to get up early for school. I got more excited when I heard that. That means I’m really going to school!
I couldn’t describe the happiness I felt when we finally bought a school bag. I chose a backpack with pink and blue patterns with unicorns of different sizes. The list of requirements that Teacher Araceli gave us had notebooks, pencils, erasers, ruler, bond paper, art paper, crayons, glue and cartolina written on it. Mama bought all of them for me. I hugged her and said thank you.
When we arrived home, I helped my mother cover my notebooks by cutting the tape. She made sure to put my name on everything we bought and placed all of them in the bag. I was already very sleepy when we finished. I kissed my mother goodnight and whispered, “Thanks, Ma. I’m finally going to kindergarten.”
