Unpredictable!
CEBU, Philippines — The weather can’t be more unpredictable lately. It can rain when the day seems to be sunny while a hot afternoon is followed by a chilly evening. And as if these were not enough to get everyone confused, there’s the quandary whether to put away the warm clothes or keep these in case the temperatures fluctuate.
It’s only a month or two to go before summer, and supposedly the weather shall already be consistently heating and brightening up. As it is these days, though, the weather seems to be claiming its natural right to be unpredictable! With that, it is a challenge to dress appropriately – and fashionably – every time.
Ellen Green, at www.glossglam.com, share some tips that might get the confusion under control:
Denim. In this unpredictable weather what is needed is something cool and at the same time trendy, and denim can be the solution to the confusion. Wearing vintage denim will be a savior in the warm afternoons and cooler evenings while faded denim jeans with tops, turtle necks, gladiators, wedges and even some blings can be mixed-and-matched and topped off with denim jackets and with skirts if it’s warm enough to bare those legs.
Skirt. The weather is unpredictable and it may be too much of a risk to pull off those miniskirts or even knee lengths. (It would be nice, though, to go for those at one time or the other.) But if the sun looks like it’s going to prevail, that’s the time when skirt works no matter what length it is – from cute mini to a flowy maxi. There are various options to opt from and thus go all prepared and stylish if the penchant for skirt cannot be suppressed.
Florals. There’s this phrase which Miranda Priestly speaks on the idea of floral prints collection in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada.” It’s not clear, though, whether she is being sarcastic or she really means it but florals certainly fit a bright day and can even work to lighten up a drery day. I seems nice to try to flaunt some floral prints – it can be the solution to everything one wears – be it a maxi skirt, a sundress or floral-printed leggings.
Leggings. Looking forward, after a long uncomfortable cold spell everyone is in a hurry for sure to lose some layers and get comfy and super stylish – and the leggings are the one that fits into the definition. A pair of leggings are not only comfortable, it also gives a sexy trendy look in this unpredictable weather, if one juggles some dresses and skirts to go with leggings. And now there’s no more need for grey and black for the printed leggings or bright colored hues.
Colors. When stuck in between weathers that are chilly and warm at the same time, one may opt to make the choice of colors. A good idea is to let go of dark shades and go for pastel colors or even bright shades of yellow and blue. Summer is coming anyway; and even if not, this is a tropical country where there’s more abundant sun than clouds.
Layers. Where the weather is inflexible, more flexibility is needed. Whether it’s warm enough to skip a layer or two but still cold enough to wear a layer, it’s smart to be ready for a drizzle even when the skies seem clear. The wind often brings in a few clouds and all the sunny mood and outfit get drenched. Thus, it’s a good idea layer up and be prepared for the such unpredictable weather change; but one may avoid bulky jackets and heavy layering in case the temperature won’t drop much.
Sweater. The trendy knitted sweater that you bought thinking it’s a good investment for the cold days may now have its time to show again. It doesn’t have to wait until the next “Simbang Gabi” to be useful. It’s good to be warm in the evenings without having to wear something bulky. A knitted sweater can be mixed-and-matched with simple jeans or tights.
Boots. The cold spell will soon be over when the summer comes; but even if the summer comes, there’s still no assurance that this confusion about the right fashion to have will go away for good. Once and for all, one may just have to go her own way and be ready either to go bare legs or cover it up especially on chilly nights if she doesn’t want to catch cold. She may go out with knee-length skirts or dresses with boots to keep those pinkies warm and comfortable through the day. She can go with thigh high boots or the ankle boots with her outfit.
It’s impossible to change the ways of the weather. What’s possible is to change one’s attitude towards the situation. With preparation and a lot of options, one can be ready for the unpredictable!
