“For the Love of Leyte” Music and Arts Festival

CEBU, Philippines — On November 30 to December 1, a music and arts festival title “For the Love of Leyte’ is taking place at The Farm, in barangay Ginsiyaman, San Miguel town. The proceeds of the event go to long-term programs in support of the island’s creative talents.

“For the Love of Leyte” is conceptualized five years after super typhoon Yolanda devastated the island of Leyte. To this day, much remains to be done to bring Leyte back on its feet. Nurturing the creative talents of the Leytenos is a way of healing their broken spirits. This is what “For the Love of Leyte” is about.

The festival features music, arts-and-craft workshops, with performances by popular OPM bands, Waray artists, and international headliners. Those attending the festival are promised a unique musical experience, and an immersion in Leyte creative talent, craft, and artistry.

Also to be showcased are the skills of Leyte artisans and micro-entrepreneurs that produce woven bags, fashion accessories, and houseware pieces.  Among these items are coconut lamps produced in collaboration among For the Love of Leyte, Lolo Bobby Handicraft and award-winning integrated creative network Ogilvy who designed the coconut lamps.

Ogilvy will also participate in the long-term support for the Leyte artisans through Creative Hubs that will provide training within communities to up-skill artisans and create better demand for their products.

The three-day festival is organized by partners Ginsiyaman Festival, UK’s One Love Festival and The Philippines Foundation, with the support of Department of Tourism, Tourism Promotions Board and ABS-CBN.
