It took us more than an hour to reach the hideaway of businessman Dick Cabucos and wife Nelda in Guadalupe`s highest hills, some 1800 feet above sea level. We had to traverse the one-lane, most crooked road we have ever seen. But wait… when we reached the place, everybody was amazed to see the beautiful scenery – lush gardens, the trees all over the place, the fruit trees with fruits ready for harvest. Oh it was awesome. We couldn’t believe that on this hill, Nelda and Dick have 1800 fruit-bearing guyabanos, mangoes, atis, breadfruits and jackfruits. For a very good reason, we were able to go there because it was Nelda`s birthday and her best friend Susan Calero`s birthday too. All of us had fun during the whole day we spent on that top of the Guadalupe hill!
October 1 was Meren Gepilano`s birthday. Aside from her giving food to the less fortunate, she also made “bangka” to dear friends… a merienda cena at the newly refurbished Kabilin at Golden Prince Hotel. The merienda fare was truly something to come back for.

Honolulu-based businesswoman Bles Patino breezed into town one day last month. Without much ado, she called all her friends from the MSY Club and treated all of us to Chinese lunch at Grandcon. Bles` treat was, sort of, an advance party fete for husband Alex who was still in Honolulu that day. Bles promised to be back by December, before the Yuletide season!
