New summer workshops
CEBU, Philippines – Little Boy Productions makes its summer workshops even brighter with new classes in public speaking, poetry and creative writing, alongside its popular theater offerings this 2018.
Teaching the poetry workshop will be Danton Remoto, who is currently the Head of English at the University of Nottingham, Malaysia campus. His numerous books of fiction, poetry, and essays have won acclaim both here and abroad. He is also a popular TV and radio host and writes for GMA News Online and the Philippine Star.
Participants will learn to speak more comfortably and own the stage in the public speaking and hosting workshop with Chappy Piramide. Chappy is a runner, Toastmaster, lawyer, and a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University. She is also the head of Book Swap Cebu.
Handling the creative writing workshop is Therese Villarante, who is a poet, scriptwriter, singer and actress. Through writing exercises, mini-lecture seminars, and on-site writing projects, the workshop aims to dispel the notion that writing is a difficult, serious endeavor, and to approach writing in a fun and imaginative way.
The theater workshops will be led by Jill Pena and Andrei Pamintuan. Their credits include plays and musicals with Atlantis Theatrical Group (Kinky Boots, Disney’s Tarzan), Trumpets (The Horse and His Boy), Repertory Philippines (Disney’s Mulan) and the New York Musical Theater Festival. The theater workshop for younger kids (as young as 4 years old) will focus on music and movement, and creative activities such as storytelling and games as a way to channel their energies. The teen class will introduce improvisation, creative dramatics, and basics of musical theater. A culminating production at the end of the workshop will be presented.
Workshops will start on April 26 and will be held at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu. Check out the Facebook page of Little Boy Productions or call (0995) 659-6880 for more information.
