A Day of All Things Literary

Jesson J. Morata - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Now on its third year, the Cebu Literary Festival made another successful installment last November 26 at the Ayala Center Cebu Activity Center. It was a full day of all things literary and all for free.

Presentations and discussions on topics like travel writing, graphic novels, page to film adaptations, spoken word, fringe festivals, and independent publishing were among the activities lined up. The writers featured in the literary event included Paolo Herras of Komiket and Meganon Comics’ Manix Abrera, Jona Bering, Estan Cabigas, Vim Nadera, John Ilagan and Resil Mojares.

Hand-made goods from local artists like Happy Garaje and Glitchgrafiks were on sale. A preview of two songs from the upcoming Cayabyab-Tinio musical film "Larawan," adapted from a novel by Nick Joaquin was also among the activities. A “Spoken Word” and “Music Open Mic” capped this year’s literary festival. (FREEMAN)
