Augusto Go's 80th Birthday Celebration
In our years of covering birthday bashes, never had we seen such a grandiose celebration of a birthday…
yes, the birthday of one of the most loved persons in Cebu - Atty. Augusto W. Go, who turned all of 80 years young last October 11. And so, he
made it a significant event by inviting 800 people and most unique of all, gave out to the church officials and charitable institutions eight million pesos!
Held at the fully-decorated Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, the 800 guests came, some dressed in formal attires. Gus' lovely wife Elizabeth and daughter Candice were elegant in their red floor-length gowns. Dinner was exquisite, perfectly selected by the hotel's chefs. And wines were served endlessly!
Dinner over, entertainment was the production by Victor Cuenco with song-and-dance numbers from Broadway, and Filipino kundimans as well. But the most heart-tickling and thrilling number of all was the flying trapeze with aerial stuntmen patterned after the Las Vegas shows. Summing it all up, the entertainment was super-fantastic.
Penultimate was Gus Go's revelation of his life… how he started it all, including his founding the University of Cebu (which was also celebrating its 50th anniversary that day), and other businesses, and helped hundreds of students which now gave him the title of modern-day Philanthropist.
