2014 GSIS Art Tilt Winners

CEBU, Philippines - The winners of this year's Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Art Competition were recognized in an awarding ceremony held at the GSIS Theater in Pasay City late last month.

Cebuano visual artist Darby Vincent Alcoseba earned a spot in the Honorable Mention roster of the competition's Mixed Media (Representational) Category, with his predominantly watermedia-based entry entitled "Harana."

Together with Alcoseba, artists Arnel Garcia, Adrian Jay Manuel, Chrisanto Aquino and Jason Bequillo comprise the Honorable Mention roster of the competition's Mixed Media (Representational) Category.

Sam Penaso of Quezon City, Emmanuel John Santos of Caloocan City and Arthur Lozano of Baguio City respectively bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards of the representational category.

For the Non-Representational Category of this year's tilt, Gary Custodio of Kalibo, Aklan, Leopoldo Aguilar Jr. of Pasig City, and Benhamin Cruz of Calamba, Laguna were awarded as 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, respectively.

Roman Angelo Cruz of Angeles City, Pampanga, Pete Jimenez Jr. of Quezon City and Jerry Morada of Siniloan, Laugna respectively won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards of the competition's Sculpture Category.

Now on its 10th year, the GSIS Art Competition introduced a new competition category in the Mixed Media (Representational) Category this year, with the aim of testing and enhancing the creative capacities of its participating artists.

This year, the competition received more than 500 entries made with different mediums under an open theme, with entries not only hailing from different parts of the country but from Switzerland as well. (YRST)
