Hot Summer Looks
CEBU, Philippines - In a perfect reverse of the way the cool North winds of winter beckon revelers to the Christmas holidays, the hot summer breeze has come in at the onset of the month of April. It prompts everyone in this side of the universe to turn to the nearest body of water, whether fresh or salty. The summer of 2014 is officially here.
Humidity is getting high, the temperature even higher, reaching levels almost the same as those in the famed sweltering city of Bangkok, Thailand. Lucky for us in the island paradise of Cebu, the resorts in Mactan or the beaches in our neighboring municipalities are virtually just a stone's throw away.
Here are four amazing looks to sync up with the sun, sea and fun -
1 Wind Blown Beauty. Island girl is the peg for this breezy look. Lightly curled hair is de rigueur. Smudge softly terra cotta hue on the eyes with one coating of light brown mascara on the lashes. Match it with an equally light amount on the cheeks. Add on baby pink shade on the lips and a layer of lip-gloss and you are ready to go to the beach or the mall in a fab daytime look.
2 When the Evening Falls. Hot summer nights can be a challenge, so a lady has to equip herself with the right look. The highly important (and often neglected) brows need to be brushed with one coat of mascara to achieve a tadpole shape not too distant from Elizabeth Taylor's. A rich metallic shade of bronze is to be softly smudged on the lids plus a double coating of mascara on those lashes for a longer effect. Finish with a mocca shade on those luscious lips for added drama.
3 Light as a Feather. This other daytime look favors silky straight hair achieved by flat ironing and conditioning at the same time. The lips are in a noticeable peachy hue with generous amount of sheen. Rosy pink on the cheeks for that sun-kissed look. Go easy on the eyes with a tiny bit shade of puce. Fresh and at the same time fabulous.
4 Enchanted Evenings. A walk on the beach at sunset requires the right look. A generous amount of dark chocolatey shade of eye-shadow defines the windows of the soul. Again, go easy on the cheeks with just a hint of sunset orange. A rich carnation hue on the lips can make you a summer goddess. (FREEMAN)
