Fund raising in Hong Kong

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO - The Freeman

The destruction brought about by typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in the Philippines, most particularly in Eastern Visayas, became a global concern. The Mariquita Salimbangon Yeung Charitable Foundation, Inc., received super support from friends in Hong Kong who gathered to raise funds for relief operations and eventually for recovery and rehabilitation. Food, drinks and a raffle draw was the order of the day. Grand prize was a diamond donated by MSY Holdings President Martin Philip Yeung.

Benedict Ku in partnership with Jamie Ho-Ku, who celebrated her birthday that day, November 27, hosted cocktails cum raffle at Lily, and upbeat bistro in Hong Kong. For starters, the mission and vision of MSY Charitable Foundation, Inc., was explained followed with a slide show on its services. Finally, slides showed the devastating effect of typhoon Yolanda in the north of Cebu, which resulted in lives lost and the damaging of homes, schools, hospitals and churches. The response of the guests was most generous and tremendous. Proceeds of this fund-raising event will go to the construction of houses in Cebu north.
